Indignation

March 28, 2006

1. US troops defend raid, say Iraqis faked “massacre” — Nonetheless — Iraq parties demand U.S. cede control — Sorry, Iraq, can’t do that. We broke you, now we got to fix you. And sometimes, the best way to fix a chaotically violent conflict where there is a void of centralized power, is to establish a soothing, democracy inspiring, long-term, foreign military presence. Even if it means exacerbating chaotic violence and perpetuating a power void.
2. US gets low marks in ‘battle of ideas’: Rumsfeld — Actually makes sense for a sentence, at least when paraphrased: Rumsfeld said there are many moderate Muslims and relatively few Muslim “violent extremists,” and the United States must find ways to encourage and support the moderates. — But, he doesn’t mean by behaving morally and letting our actions speak. He means by planting positive stories in the Iraqi press. Hey, Rummy, somehow my six beats your half-dozen.
3. Dirty bombs don’t concern me. But I’m cynical.
4. U.S. makes seized Iraqi documents public…posting them on the Internet in a step that is at once a nod to the Web’s power and an admission that U.S. intelligence resources are overloaded. And later on in the article: …intelligence officials say that they are giving each one a quick review to remove anything sensitive. — Releasing them all would be a really cool act of openness. Filtering them first… smacks of propaganda.
5. Earth Is at The Tipping Point — Global warming. Tipping point. The sky is falling. Enough already! I get it! My kids are screwed if we don’t adapt immediately, but our leaders are in terminal denial. I’m glad that sinkhole ate that SUV yesterday. I just wish it would have happened years ago, and more often.
6. An image.

I saw that the American military commander said, “I think we just have a difference of perception…” as to what, exactly, constitutes a ‘mosque’. So the next time G.I.’s break into the First Lutheran Church with thier guns blazing, keep that in mind. To them it’s just a ‘community center’ hiding terrorists.

Hey, guys. What did you think about Card’s resignation today? We know these guys don’t do anything without reason. I’ve read some speculation about Rove cooperating with the Plame investigation. Connection? Theories?
