We can afford a $700,000,000,000 bail-out due to greed and deregulation, but we can’t afford universal healthcare, a better education system, more help for the homeless, etc.?
Give me a break.
the paradox you mention is not a bug, it’s a feature.
i might as well suggest a less exploitive financial instrument through which people might purchase a house and actually gain equity in the property they live in, maintain and improve: a zero interest mortgage with perhaps a small annual documentation fee? naaah, couldn’t happen.
I too suspect that the cost of the bailout is intended to strangle an Obama administration in the cradle.
