Animal Farm — George Orwell
I have read this book three times maybe, and each time I read it all at once. Sat down after supper to read, and didn’t go to bed until I finished it. If only everything else was so engaging. I wish more people “got it” though, and by “it” I mean Orwell’s message.

I always read fast, and had to come back to “Animal Farm” later to ‘get it’ entirely. And reading up on the critical response (was Snowball Trotsky?) helps in some way.
And I read ‘Catch 22’ one Sunday when trapped at home (ie, freed from church)by an ice storm when I was 17. Took 22 hours…
I wish I could read fast. My cohort, Fehlleistungen can read like nobody I’ve seen. Catch 22 in 22 hours? Most impressive.
I confess I don’t know who Snowball represents. By “got it” I meant it’s cautionary nature in relation to all idealized forms of society. Including
[ahem]
US democracy today. I suppose I don’t have a full enough academic background to “get it” on all its levels.
