April 27, 2006

1. GAO Says Government Pesters Wounded Soldiers Over Debts“It’s like, ‘Thanks for your service, and now you owe us.'”Support the troops! Forgive the debt. This is a symptom of our money-centric definition of value. Blood and limbs are valuable, too.
2. Senate Panel Recommends Abolishing FEMAJoe Lieberman . . . will offer “additional views” to the panel’s findings . . . accusing President Bush of failing “to provide critical leadership when it was most needed.”No shit, Dick Tracy.
3. Medtronic to Pursue Major Clinical Trial of Deep Brain Stimulation as Depression Treatment — Interesting. But what is deep brain stimulation technology, anyway?
4. Latest Da Vinci mystery: judge’s own secret code — I fear getting lynched for saying this in polite company, but: To my mind, suing Dan Brown for plagiarism is kinda like complaining that OFFAL stole your plan for victory in Iraq.
5. An image.
