My Side of the Story

After losing the Millennium Falcon, things with Sidious changed. I could sense that he was thinking it was about time for a new apprentice would rise to replace me. I was running out of time and beginning to despair over how I would ever meet my destiny and fulfill the prophecy. To ease my mind, I used my mechanical skills and threw myself into the project at hand: overseeing the construction of a new Death Star. I was sure to get many opportunities for those oh-so-cathartic strangulations, plus I could reside half a galaxy away from Sidious and relax more in my meditation sessions without the fear of him sensing my emotions.

I came to realize that it was Luke Sidious wanted for his next apprentice. I wouldn’t let him make my son his slave as I was. At the same time, I thought this turn of events might actually work to my advantage. This is when the Emperor summoned me to his chambers and told me of his plan to destroy the Rebellion once and for all. It involved me bringing Luke before him so he could be turned to the Dark side. I would once again be able to pursue my agenda. The Force works in mysterious ways.
