Like Comparing Real Apples and Imaginary Oranges

August 29, 2008

JOHN McCAIN HAS diarrhea of the mouth:

I believe that the world is better off without Saddam Hussein. I believe it’s clear that he had every intention to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction. I can only imagine what Saddam Hussein would be doing with the wealth he would acquire with oil at $110 and $120 a barrel.

  1. If the invasion of Iraq and hanging of Saddam Hussein also lead to war crimes prosecutions of our own bloodthirsty rulers, and the end of US preemptive “defense” doctrine, then one might argue the world ended up in a marginally better place. Though one probably won’t convince too many Iraqis of that. Especially not the dead ones who are beyond convincing.
  2. Of course Saddam wanted to acquire WMD.
  3. Wait, “and use”? No. Wouldn’t that be [pointless/self-defeating/suicidal] or some shit?
  4. I can only imagine what Saddam Hussein would be doing with the wealth he would acquire with oil at $110 and $120 a barrel, too, because Saddam Hussein is dead, and the war and occupation of Iraq that deaded him might play some part in why we have $110 and $120 dollar a barrel oil.

Just saying.
